Follow Redbird Bar Director Tobin Shea’s cocktail recipe instructions below to make the Devil’s Helmet cocktail from The Plain Truth About the Best Seeds Cocktail Collection. The Devil’s Helmet is an earthy and smoky cocktail with a sour tang from the addition of kumquat shrub, a vinegar-based preserve.
Devil’s Helmet
1.5 oz Del Maguey Vida Mezcal
3/4 oz Kumquat Shrub
1/2 oz Lemon
1/2 oz Yellow Chartreuse
1/2 oz Dolin Dry Vermouth
1/4 oz Licor 43
4 dashes Habanero tincture
In a Boston shaker, add all the ingredients and top with ice. Shake until chilled, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime twist.
