Los Angeles Conservancy | 2019 Preservation Awards | Chair’s Award Recipient for Adaptive Reuse

In July, Redbird | Vibiana received the Los Angeles Conservancy’s 2019 Preservation Award Chair’s Award.

The Chair’s Award is the LA Conservancy’s highest recognition celebrating the persistence, creativity and ultimate success of the revitalization for adaptive reuse of the cathedral, rectory building and surrounding property. Recipients are selected by a jury of experts in architecture, historic preservation and community development.

The Los Angeles Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that works through education and advocacy to recognize, preserve and revitalize the historic architectural and cultural sites of Los Angeles County.

Redbird | Vibiana owners Amy Knoll Fraser and Chef Neal Fraser are so grateful to the Los Angeles Conservancy for their work and commitment to save the property. And to Tom Gilmore and Jerri Perrone of Gilmore Associates for bringing them in to transform this important piece of architecture for our city.

Since 1982, the Conservancy has reviewed and recognized historic structures that represent excellence in the field of preservation.

Previous honorees include the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles, Bradbury Building, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Enis House, Griffith Park, Hauser & Wirth, Los Angeles Central Library, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, Orpheum Theatre, The Forum, The Rose Bowl Stadium and The Wiltern. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners including the Asian Americans in Los Angeles Historic Context Statements, A.V. Walberg Residence & Adjoining Properties, Beverly Fairfax Historic District National Register Nomination, Bradbury House, Google Playa Vista, Los Angeles Union Station and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library.
