Monica Film | Awards Fundraiser in The Garden

We are thrilled to join Monica director Andrea Pallaoro and actors Trace Lysette and Patricia Clarkson along with The Box gallery in support of transgender representation on film for an Awards Fundraiser in The Garden on November 7th 2023 at 7pm.

The evening, co-sponsored by our friends at The Box gallery in the Arts District, will be a chance to meet the film’s creators and actors and bid on auction items (with works by Zackary Drucker, Pau Pescador, Vijai Mohindra and more) over light bites and libations.

Monica had its world premiere in competition at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, to an 11-minute standing ovation and widespread rapturous acclaim. Beloved by critics and audiences alike, the film is a nuanced portrait of a transgender woman reconnecting with her estranged family after decades away. Trace Lysette stars in the title role and Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson plays her mother; together, their outstanding performances tell a powerful story of family, memory and forgiveness.

The film, its director and stars have all received widespread acknowledgment, deserving of recognition to be in awards contention. This event aims to help them get further attention through deeper, necessary promotional support. Ticket sales will help raise funds to support transgender representation on screen with awards season rapidly approaching. Help us make history!
