Tequila Casa Dragones Guest Chef Dinner with Donnie Masterton
On August 22, 2018 we hosted guest Chef Donnie Masterton and Casa Dragones from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for an intimate dinner in the Garden.
Chef Masterton took his take on global comfort food to San Miguel de Allende over a decade ago after honing his skills in the US. Beginning at age 15, Chef Masterton studied under Chef David Bouley at New York’s Montrachet. He worked his way through New York, San Francisco and LA with Chefs Traci Des Jardins, Joachim Splichal, and his mentor, the late Patrick Clark. He opened his first restaurant, the award-winning The Restaurant, in San Miguel, 10 years ago and has since added Birdie’s Burgers, Taco Lab, Fatima 7 and Café Casa Blanca in the newly opened Casa Blanca 7 Hotel to his ever-growing repertoire.
Casa Dragones is an independent, small-batch producer of exceptional sipping tequilas. Casa Dragones is named after the Dragones from San Miguel de Allende: an elite cavalry led by Ignacio Allende that eventually helped spark the independence movement from the Spanish, which led to the Mexican War of Independence. Although made in Jalisco, Casa Dragones calls San Miguel de Allende its spiritual home.
