Introducing Triple Crown Cocktails

In Spring 2018, Redbird presented a new collection of Triple Crown Cocktails available through August 7th. Conceptualized by Redbird’s Bar Director, Tobin Shea, the collection tells the story of horse racing from the time it was the sport of kings abroad, to when it later became popular in America.

The collection takes its name from the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. The arrival of thoroughbred horses to the states in the 1860s signaled the beginning of a major competition and cause for celebrating—a thriving cocktail and social culture paired well with the events of the sport. Made to last for the time in between horse races, a specific cocktail came to be associated with each race of the Triple Crown: Kentucky Derby and the Mint Julep, Preakness and the Black-Eyed Susan, and Belmont Stakes and the White Carnation.

Shea takes the rich history of the sport as a jumping off point for further exploration and depth, bringing together classics with newly imagined cocktails for the present day.
