Memorial Day | Happy Hour Cocktail Kit Recipes

Army Navy
The Army Navy cocktail was originally made to enjoy while watching the Army vs Navy football game at the end of every college season. David Embury eventually made it more palatable and published it in the book, The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks.

Ingredients
2 oz. Bombay Sapphire Gin
3/4 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
3/4 oz. Orgeat
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Instructions
Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist and enjoy!

Kentucky Colonel
The Kentucky Colonel, although not technically a military cocktail, references the rank below general. The term Kentucky Colonel is more of a award for the citizens of Kentucky. One of the most famous is Harlan Sanders, founder of KFC.

Ingredients
2 oz. Angel’s Envy Bourbon
1/2 oz. Benedictine
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Instructions
Add all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled and pour into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with an orange twist and enjoy!

Navy Grog
Navy Grog is traditionally a ration for a sailor at the end of a day at sea, an actual part of their pay. Initially it was straight rum, but because the sailors got a little to0 rowdy, the captains made it be known that the rum should be served with fruit to prevent scurvy and also bad behavior.

Ingredients
1.5 oz. Bacardi 8-Year
1/2 oz. Falernum
3/4 oz.  Lime
3/4 oz. Grapefruit
3/4 oz. Rich Syrup
2 oz. Soda Water

Instructions
Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a rocks glass with ice. Top with a 2 oz. of soda water, or to fill the glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
